No Pants Required by Kim Karr
I will say from the very first moment I read the title of Kim Karr’s newest book- No Pants Required, I was intrigued. I couldn’t wait to dive into Makayla and Cam’s story and find out exactly why pants were never needed!
From the moment this book began, HOT was the first word I could use to describe it. Karr holds nothing back as she pushes her character Makayla outside of her comfort zone and the little box she’s created for herself during and since her ex Sebastian, the asshole. From the minute we meet Makayla, she is in a compromising position and continues to find herself at Cam’s mercy throughout this book. Cam, on the other hand, knows exactly what he wants out of sex and a relationship and having both isn’t exactly needed. Cam is sure of himself, cocky to a point and fascinated by Makayla. In No Pants Required, Karr not only takes you on a journey of a love story but also on a path of self discovery for both Cam and Makayla. These characters grow and develop throughout her story, facing tough times, and honest living.
Overall Karr’s story was good, but nothing that just gobbled up my heart and soul engaging me until the very end. I’m not sure I ever fully connected to the characters, their problems and their dreams. For me, I could have easily continued to read, but not devour this book. I wanted just a spark of something more. I will also have to say the choice of the cover combined with the title was a little offputting to me. To me, it gave the idea of this being something utterly cheesy, which if you read completely wasn’t the case at all. But I could see how the cover could impact a reader’s choice to actually pick up this book and read it. It’s for these reasons that I would give this book a 3.5 star rating.
