The book had me hooked from the first page. This story is not your typical romance novel, I felt the pain of what both characters went through and right from the beginning I was hoping that the book would go in a certain direction and I was not disappointed.
I loved that fact that this book didn't follow the typical romance novel set up of boy meets girl they fall in love, break up or the girl is in danger and he has to save her. This book took a really gritty subject and dealt with it in a heartfelt and honest manner. Shelby and Zack had to make a decision that was beyond their years and then they had to deal with the fallout that came. The books brings them back into each other's lives and it is painful for both of them to see where they moved onto since Shelby left Alaska.
There were some comical moments to lighten the mood but overall this book to me was all about home, family and the fact that there is that one special person out there for us all. I can't wait to read the next instalment of this series and it sounds amazing.
For me to day that this book is my top read of 2016 takes a lot, I have read over 150 books so far this year but this one really stands out and I cannot recommend it enough!
