Head-Tripped by Nicole Archer
Synopsis: Violinist Effie Murphy moved to New York to pick up the pieces of her life. After six months, she’s still broken, not to mention flat broke. But everything changes one weird night, when she meets Elias, the lead of one of the hottest bands in the world. Except, she doesn’t know that. She also doesn’t know he’s leaving the country soon.
Elias hates life in the spotlight. So when he meets Effie at a random party, he pretends to be an unemployed deadbeat. Why not? He’ll never see her again. Except, he can’t stop thinking about the wild woman who helped him write songs that night.

Head-Tripped is the second book in the Ad Agency Series and can be read as a standalone. However, it’s a more fluid experience to start with Book 1, since many of Road-Tripped’s characters are threaded into this book.Short Synopsis:Violinist Effie Murphy moved to New York to pick up the pieces. But after six months, she’s still broken, not to mention flat broke. On the verge of giving up, she meets a quiet musician at a party one night who changes her life. Archer stayed true to her roots with Head Tripped, book 2 in the Ad Agency series that follows Effie, Callie’s identical twin sister. This book was quirky, funny, and still had enough of that swoon worthy romance to make you a fan. You do not have to read book 1- Road Tripped in order to read this one, however, I highly recommend you read Road Tripped, it was one of my top reads for 2016.
In Head Tripped, Archer gives is failing Juilliard student and recovering junkie, Effie. She’s flighty, some what weird, and much like a hippy as she just spontaneously through life. Having always been the fun loving sister, Effie is really struggling to find her place in the world as she learns to love herself for who she is. Elias is a completely different story. Guarded and plagued by the fame of success, Elias is anything but ready for the whirlwind that is Effie. But, like just like moth, he is drawn to her flame, never choosing to extinguish it no matter what trouble she may bring with her. They are two characters you can’t help but root for as they build their trust in each other.
Archer also develops some amazing side characters that you just can’t live without. Whether it be Elias’ Hello Kitty wearing, acupuncturist Chinese mother, a weepy body guard or a driver who speaks no English, I found myself laughing and wanting more from these and so many more from this book. I have a feeling we may be hearing more for Ralph, aka Griffin before it’s over!
