My Time Out Book Blog - “I've never experienced so many emotions while reading a book. But at the same time brings back so many memories.”
Book Haven Book Blog - “Completely phenomenal!! This book filled me with nostalgia for the power and longevity of a first time love, and literally brought me to my knees at 3am in a puddled mess on the floor when it was all over because I lost an entire day with Sebastian and Tessa.”
It only takes one night—one moment, one small snippet of time—to change everything. At sixteen-years-old, Sebastian Baxter taught me that. He taught me a lot of things.
He never had to work for my heart. In some unexplainable way I think it had always belonged to him anyway.

We spent years loving each other, hurting each other, trying to forget each other, but no matter how hard I tried, I could never erase the memory of him. His eyes, his smile, his touch—these are all things that are embedded in my brain, tattooed on my skin, and etched into my heart.

Some might think our love story is over, but deep down I know it’s only just beginning.

Because it’s not about where the night begins, it’s about where it ends…

Where the Night Ends is a standalone, coming of age, romance.

Melissa Toppen gives readers an unconventional romance with Where the Night Ends, a story of young love broken by time.  In Where the Night Ends, we meet Sebastian and Tess, two young high school kids who fall in love but are riddled with life’s choices.  Toppen’s story is heartwarming, heart breaking, sweet, and promising all at the same time.  The emotional journey throughout this novel twisted and turned my insides as I read leaving me with a mixture of emotions.

This second chance love story was one that had me glued to the pages.  Sebastian and Tess’ relationship was epic on so many levels and disastrous on so many more. The challenges these two faced growing up paired with their deep rooted love was something I couldn’t resist.  Toppen once again proved she is an author worth reading.

While I loved the general storyline of this book and understood why Toppen chose to develop two high school students, sometimes I felt like Sebastian, Tess and their friends were way more mature than your average highschool student.  I kept wishing that maybe this was new adult storyline based in college instead of high school.  Some of the decisions, choices and friendships made were so emotional and deep it seemed hard to conceive that two high school kids could react in such an adult way. However, that being noted did not deter me from the overall story.

Toppen continues to write emotionally driven novels that won’t let you go.  Combined with some interesting characters and a well written story line,  Where the Night Ends is one book that I would highly recommend to those readers who love that emotional rollercoaster ride of a coming of age/second chance romance book.  Toppen is definitely an author worth your one click!
